2010 Lexus Hybrid LS 600hL

The Lexus full hybrid LS 600hL flagship is set to gain a multitude of technological and styling enhancements this year. In compliance with Euro V Emissions standards, this comfortable vehicle combines efficiency with style.

The LS 600hL features the ‘ECO’ mode. This function monitors and administers throttle response. Furthermore, the dynamic air-conditioning system helps maximise efficiency. Furthermore, when the temperature outside exceeds 20°C the air conditioning automatically converts to air recirculation mode to reduce power consumption.

The hybrid’s battery system is repackaged into two segments of 6 and 14 modules, therefore the overall size has been reduced, and thus there is 40-litres additional boot space. The vehicle is powered by a combined LS 600hL 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine and a 165kW electric motor. The electric motor can deliver 327kW of power enabling acceleration from 0-100km/h in just 6.3 seconds. Even on the coupled mode, emissions and fuel efficiency are unchanged at 219g/km and 9.3-litres per 100km respectively.

The new style incorporates a revised four-bar grille and front bumper. The air intake, fog lamps and headlamps have also been redesigned, the latter finished in that distinctive Lexus blue. Other style revisions include new door mirrors with dual LED turn signals, chrome highlights, rear bumper design with vertical airflow fins, and puddle lamps. The paint quality and finish has been enhanced by a product called Self-Restoring Coat treatment.

Internally, there have been a variety of style updates. The instrument panel has now features a colour LCD display. The dials have been redesigned too, and there is a tachometer, central speedometer and coolant temperature gauge on the left. On the right there is a hybrid system indicator. The central speedometer display can be customised too in order to display vehicular information, navigation instructions and system status. There’s even an EMV multi-display touch screen featuring switches for audio control. This switchgear has a metallic finish, reminiscent of the premium feel of the new design. The 19-speaker Surround Sound system comes as standard – that’s right folks, 19 speakers! The sound quality is exceptional. You can even channel the surround sound on particular CDs and DVDs. USB connectivity and MP3 capability can also be controlled using the touch screen.

The overall opinion – the flagship model is a much anticipated vehicle that is clearly reminiscent of its family genes. An exemplary combination of comfort, luxury, efficiency and power.
