2011 Proton Inspira Specs Unveiled

Photos and details for the upcoming 2011 Proton Inspira have been released by the brand this week. Recently launched in Malaysia, the new Mitsubishi Lancer-based model is being offered in three variants, including a 1.8-litre engine variant (auto or manual) and 2.0-litre engine version (auto, CVT gearbox only).

By the looks of the recently publicized details, her bark is as impressive as her bite. Mitsubishi has had a profound part to play when it comes to most of the design cues and mechanical bells and whistles. Nonetheless, Proton has also independently adjusted the model to suit the requirements and needs of its Malaysian customers.

The traditional front grille design has been marginally amended, while the front and rear bumper bars have also been revised. Throw in specially tuned suspension developed by the iconic Lotus and we have ourselves a Lancer-based model that still manages to distinguish itself.

Chairman of Proton Holdings, Mr. Berhad claims that, “Proton is ready to move even further ahead to become a recognised player in the global automotive industry. We have been working and collaborating with Mitsubishi for the last 25 years and its a natural step forward for us to continue to work with them in this project.”

At this point in time, the brand does not intend to bring the new Inspira to Australian shores. However, the future is full of possibilities. Arguably the Inspira could do quite well here too. Shame.
