There are many ways to help sell your car faster. Preparation, presentation, the price, test drive and ad are all important parts of the sale process.

If you want to sell your car for a decent price, you have to make it look decent. Make sure it is clean on the inside and out and even give it a coat of wax to make it very shiny.  If you don’t want to do it yourself, there are plenty of professional cleaning bays where it can be done for you. A good tip is to clean under the bonnet. It will show that the car is well cared for.

Ensure all mechanical repairs have been finished as many drivers will want to have a test drive. It will be difficult to sell if potential drivers hear constant noises while driving. Fix any small problems in the car such as a cracked windscreen, torn upholstery, fuses, broken stereo and bald tyres.

The ad should represent the car exactly. Potential buyers will not be happy if you misrepresent your car. Give a detailed description of the make and model, colour and the kilometres. If you are putting the ad on the internet, attach as many photos as possible of every angle of the car.

The price of the car should be realistic. If you are not sure of a reasonable price, do some research on the car sales website and see what the other cars are going for. Remember to leave some room for haggling.

For the test drive, make sure you check the licence of those who are going to drive. If they have an accident and unlicenced drive could cancel out your insurance. It is best to either take down their details or keep something important like their car keys for security.
