The Victorian Government has officially put on hold, plans to relocate Aussie’s Grand Prix from Albert Park. The relocation plan was initially planned to occur following the expiry of the current contract in 2015. A study was approved by the FIA, surrounding private sector intentions to host the $200m race in Avalon.
Avalon is a 40 minute drive from Melbourne. The track could potentially accommodate night racing at a cheaper running cost, however according to Major Events Minister Tim Holding, the Government wants the even to remain in the late afternoons in Melbourne.
