Peugeot 508 Debuts At Paris Motor Show

Peugeot’s newest large car range has made its debut at the recent Paris Motor Show and is potentially the most stylish lineup yet. Amongst the group unveiled was the long-awaited, first-production 508 model, which succeeds both the previous 407 and 607 models. Notably, the new model sports a strikingly demure design aesthetic. This conservative change in stylistic direction is forged via a floating single-piece grille, slim LED-tube headlights, sculpted body, and nostalgic style cues reminiscent of the original ‘5’ and ‘Roadster’ Concepts.

The jury is still out on specs and a price tag, however the French automaker has alluded to the possibility of eight engines being offered in the future, ranging from several petrol to diesel options. The brand has also revealed intentions of integrating Stop/Start technology in the diesel variants, in order to minimize the 508’s thirst. Rumour also has it that a hybrid model is also in the works, however Peugeot has not confirmed this so we will have to wait and see.

If all goes according to plan, the 149kW-capable all-wheel drive version will be in local showrooms within the next two years. Notably, she only emits 99g/km of CO2. Pretty impressive. Peugeot punters can expect similar power and eco-savvy figures from the other powertrains, of which include a 1.6L HDI FAP turbodiesel and a more powerful 1.6L THP.
